Weight loss smoothies are all the rage right now, and for good reason – they’re a quick, easy, and convenient way to get a ton of fresh fruits and veggies into your diet, and are a fantastic alternative to other calorie and sugar-laden drinks out on the market today.
Smoothies: Meal Convenience at Your Fingertips
Thankfully, you can pop a smoothie at anytime of the day – not just for breakfast! Supplementing a smoothie for a meal or two a day can help keep you full with nutritious food that will fuel you throughout your day, and can help boost energy levels as well. You can also do a full smoothie detox cleanse for weight loss.
A bonus to smoothies throughout the day is that you can sneakily incorporate fruits and veggies that you wouldn’t normally eat into them! Not only are you adding in extra servings of produce in your diet and therefore boosting your immune system with all the vitamins and minerals, but you’re also incorporating those lesser-liked veggies and fruits into your smoothie – and you probably won’t even notice that they’re in there.

Red velvet cake is the epitome of deliciousness – after all, that hint of sweetness in the cake is what most people love most, right? Amazingly, we can get a touch of that sweet, in a healthy and nutritious smoothie. And the secret to the beautiful and bold red color in this particular smoothie? Beets!
Plant-based foods in general have a ton of health benefits…but, beets in particular have extensive positive health-related correlations. Studies have been done in regards to beet supplementation and hypertension, and it’s noted that beetroot works wonders on improving high blood pressure!
Containing nutrients like calcium, Vitamin A, iron, folate, and Vitamin C, beets are a fantastic way to supplement your diet and protect against cardiovascular diseases as well as cancer.
Research has also shown us that antioxidants within beets may help to improve blood sugar levels in people with diabetes, and the corresponding symptoms that can go along with it.

Carrots have been touted to help with improving eyesight, but that’s not their only benefit. Carrots are also high in potassium and Vitamin A, as well as fiber. 4. Vanilla Berry Smoothie
Sometimes we don’t want dessert in the form of chocolate or cake…sometimes, fruit in and of itself can be a sweet treat! This vanilla berry weight loss smoothie combines the best of both worlds, combining a hint of vanilla with the sweetness of berries without throwing in a ton of calories.
You might be thinking, what’s so great about fruit in your smoothie? Well, here’s the thing – berries in particular contain a phytochemical called C3G, which research has shown to increase hormone production that in turn increases how our body utilizes fat for fuel, as well as acting as an appetite suppressant. C3G can be found in blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries!
Berries have also been noted to have many other health benefits, aside from being a metabolism booster. These include helping to manage insulin levels, both in healthy folks and people with resistance to insulin. Berries also contain antioxidants, and are nutrient-rich sources of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, manganese, and copper.
Interestingly enough, berries are also in the fight against inflammation within the body; these sweet little bites may help to decrease markers for inflammation, whether it’s brought on by injuries, stress, or dietary choices.
How It’s Made:
- 1 frozen banana
- 2 cups vanilla almond milk
- 1 cup frozen berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, etc.)
- 4 cups plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Making approximately three servings, blend all of the ingredients together until smooth. If needed, add half of the yogurt at a time, blending slowly to ensure all ingredients are combined evenly.

5. Black Forest Smoothie
Typically made with sugar-filled cherries and fat-laden vanilla or cream cheese frosting, black forest cake can be dessert for the masses…. however, what if you’re watching your waistline and trying to limit sugar intake? Enter the black forest weight loss smoothie!
Granted, this healthy version of the infamous cake won’t be nearly as sweet…but, if you’re needing a filling, nutritious snack that reminds you of the cake, you won’t be disappointed!
How It’s Made:
- 2 cups frozen cherries (with pits removed)
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 2.5 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 2.5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 dates (with pits removed)
- ¼ cup rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
Optional ingredients include honey, dark chocolate, and extra cherries, if you want to garnish your weight loss smoothie with any toppings! Add all ingredients to a blender, mixing until smooth. Then enjoy!
One special ingredient in this particular smoothie is the addition of cherries. Just one cup of these tart bites has a powerhouse of Vitamin C and Vitamin A, as well as fiber. Cherries have also been studied within the realm of reducing inflammation, which is promising news for those folks that suffer from conditions like gout and arthritis.
Cherries also contain anthocyanin, or otherwise known as the color that is produced naturally within fruits and veggies (that’s why it’s important to eat the rainbow – powerful disease fighters are within colorful produce). Research shows that this antioxidant helps to improve and increase the production of insulin as well!
